What does the “Stonewall” refer to in the name Stonewall Libertarians?

The “Stonewall” in Stonewall Libertarians refers to the Stonewall Rebellion that took place at
the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village on June 27, 1969. It was a spontaneous uprising
against constant police harassment that is credited by some as being the spark that lit the
flame of the modern “gay rights” movement.

Do I have to be a member of the Libertarian Party to join?

No. As long as you believe in smaller government, lower taxes and more individual freedom,
you are welcome.

I consider myself to be straight. Am I allowed to participate?

Absolutely! You can serve in any capacity in Stonewall Libertarians. We welcome leaders of
all political persuasions, sexual orientations and gender identities.

Is it true that I can be appointed as a Chapter Coordinator without having to pay dues?

Yes, that’s correct. Interested individuals can be appointed to serve as Chapter Coordinators
without joining the group. However, once the people from a state want to apply for a formal
charter for their chapter, they must join as Sustaining Members ($20) prior to their holding an
organizational meeting to adopt bylaws and elect officers.

What if I don’t want to pay dues at this time? Do you offer a free membership option?

Yes, we do offer a Basic Membership that is absolutely free. Just fill out and send in the
Membership Application located in the ‘Join Us’ section of this website and in the ‘Files’
section of our Yahoo Group.

Is it true that other groups exist that attempt to serve the needs of G.L.B.T. libertarians?

Yes. In fact, I know of six such groups. They are LGLC (Libertarians for Gay and Lesbian
Concerns), GLIL (Gays & Lesbians for Individual Liberty), Gay Libertarians, Outright
Libertarians, LOG Politics (Libertarian Objectivist GLBT Politics) and Log Cabin
Libertarians. Each of these organizations has purposes that differ from those of Stonewall
Libertarians. Some are active, others not so much.

I have been turned off by the endless philosophical debates that take place in some libertarian
groups and by the presence of what I call ‘toxic libertarians’. If I join Stonewall Libertarians,
can you promise me I will have a good experience and be able to do constructive work for the
cause of liberty?

Yes, I can make that promise. Our Yahoo Group is moderated and general philosophical
debates are not permitted. ‘Toxic libertarians’ are not welcome. The focus is kept on how we
can best achieve our goals.
