Branden McCullough - Libertarian Candidate for US Representative 8th District
Cape Girardeau native Branden McCullough has always held an interest in
the political climate. However, as the problems facing American citizens
become more and more demanding, especially for the younger generation,
he has decided to do more than complain, but instead to run for office
to make changes.
Branden McCullough is running for U.S. Representative in Missouri's 8th
District. At the age of 29, McCullough is married and has no children.
McCullough is a graduate of Cape Central High School in 1997 and
received his undergraduate degree at Southeast Missouri State University in
2001 with a major in history and a minor in religion. He currently is
pursuing his Ph.D in history at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where
he also teaches. He is a member of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church
in Cape Girardeau.
As a Libertarian, McCullough believes that the freedoms granted to all
Americans in the Constitution have been slowly eroded away by the two
ruling parties. By running for public office, he wishes to initiate
reforms, which include among other issues the reduction of government
interference in business and personal affairs, the elimination of stifling
government oversight in our schools, such as the No Child Left Behind Act,
and the choice of privatizing social security.
